Adult Training Facility (ATF/PossAbilities Programs)
- Avenues’ Adult Training Facility (ATF) programs, also known as PossAbilities Programs, provide structured, supportive day services for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. These programs focus on:
- - Building daily living and functional skills
- - Encouraging socialization and communication
- - Promoting community integration and inclusion
- - Supporting personal growth and individual goals Individuals participate in a variety of activities tailored to their abilities and interests, including life skills training, recreational activities, community outings, and opportunities to explore personal strengths. ATF programs are designed to create a safe, engaging environment where individuals can thrive while maintaining dignity, choice, and independence.
Vocational & Employment Services
Avenues’ Vocational and Employment Services support individuals who are interested in developing work skills, gaining job experience, and pursuing meaningful employment opportunities.
Our vocational services include:- Pre-vocational training- Workshop-based employment- Supported employment opportunities- Job readiness and skill development- Community-based work experiences
Individuals may participate in assembly, packaging, labeling, mailing preparation, custodial work, and other structured tasks that build confidence, responsibility, and employability. For some individuals, these services serve as a pathway to competitive or supported employment in the community.
Our goal is to empower individuals to reach their highest level of vocational independence while contributing meaningfully to their workplace and community. Watch this video to see what our Voc Programs can do!

Expressions & Valley Treasures
Avenues operates two thrift store programs — Expressions and Valley Treasures — designed to provide vocational training and employment experience in a retail environment.
These programs offer individuals hands-on opportunities to develop:- Customer service skills- Cash handling and point-of-sale experience- Merchandising and inventory management- Workplace communication and teamwork
Expressions, located in Shenandoah, and Valley Treasures, located in Valley View, serve as community-focused retail spaces where individuals gain valuable job skills while engaging with the public in a welcoming environment.
Proceeds from these stores support Avenues’ programs and services, allowing the organization to continue creating opportunities for individuals with disabilities.

Lessie’s Garden & Greenhouse
Lessie’s Garden & Greenhouse is a unique program that combines vocational training with hands-on horticultural experience. Named in honor of Lessie Bartram, whose story helped inspire the founding of Avenues, the greenhouse provides individuals with opportunities to learn and practice job skills in a supportive, real-world setting.
Participants are involved in: - Planting, growing, and caring for plants and vegetables - Greenhouse and retail operations - Customer service and teamwork - Seasonal and community-based activities
Lessie’s Garden & Greenhouse promotes responsibility, confidence, and pride while fostering meaningful connections between program participants and the community
