Avenues was founded as United Cerebral Palsy of Schuylkill County in 1952. Our purpose for being is quite simple, to provide opportunity and support for people with disabilities.
In 1952 our first diagnostic clinic was held in Pottsville. The clinic was manned by Dr. John Bartram and his staff from St. Christopher's Hospital for Children, Philadelphia. From those humble beginnings Avenues has evolved into a multi-facted human service organization dedicated to providing quality programs. Currently Avenues provides program service and /or support to over 1,200 individauls and families on an annual basis in Schuylkill, Carbon, Northumberland and Lebanon Counties.
Avenues' success is attributed to the leadership of our board, the dedication of our employees, the devotion of our volunteers and the continued support of our community. We have faced many challenges over the years. We have known great joy, extreme sorrow and everything in between. Through it all we support each other and stay true to our mission: to provide opportunity and support for people with disabilities.
I encourage you to become more familiar with Avenues. Take your time and review our website. Feel free to contact us with any questions you may have. I hope you will consider getting involved with the many opportunities available at Avenues.
